At Dubois College, we are laying the foundation for innovative, community-driven, and culturally relevant research that uplifts Black and diasporic communities. As a new and growing institution, we are actively developing research opportunities for students, faculty, and community partners to explore issues in history, economics, technology, health, social justice, and entrepreneurship.

Our goal is to provide access to research experiences that prepare students for graduate studies, professional careers, and leadership roles while contributing to real-world solutions that address the needs of historically underserved communities.

  1. African & Diasporic Studies Research (Future Initiative)
  • Exploring Black history, Pan-Africanism, and cultural heritage.
  • Investigating the impact of colonialism, migration, and identity on African-descended peoples.
  • Preserving oral histories and archival materials of Black communities.

2. Economic Empowerment & Black Business Research (In Development)

  • Studying wealth-building strategies, cooperative economics, and financial literacy.
  • Researching the challenges and successes of Black entrepreneurship and small business ownership.
  • Analyzing the role of technology and e-commerce in economic development.

3. Innovation, Technology & Digital Learning (Emerging Focus)

  • Exploring digital equity, remote learning, and online education effectiveness.
  • Investigating the impact of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and tech inclusion in Black communities.
  • Researching STEM education accessibility and representation.

4. Holistic Health, Herbal Medicine & Wellness (Future Research Initiative)

  • Studying traditional African and Indigenous healing practices.
  • Exploring mental health disparities and culturally competent care in Black communities.
  • Investigating holistic nutrition, herbal remedies, and alternative medicine.

5. Social Justice, Public Policy & Legal Studies (Developing Research Network)
