Bachelor of Arts in Black Economics
The Bachelor of Arts in Black Economics at Dubois College is a bold, justice-centered program that
examines economic systems through the lens of racial equity, historical disenfranchisement, and
community wealth building. Integrating economic theory, history, and policy analysis with a focus on
African American and African diasporic experiences, this program prepares students to become
transformative leaders in the fight for economic justice and sustainable development.
Students will explore the structures that have historically excluded Black communities from wealth
accumulation, the role of entrepreneurship in liberation movements, and strategies for closing racial
wealth gaps. The program is rooted in the college's values of Education, Empowerment, Equity, and
Excellence, and leverages interdisciplinary learning from economics, history, business, sociology,
and political science.
Graduates will be equipped to work in public policy, economic development, financial education, or
pursue advanced study in economics, law, or public administration.
