ASSOCIATE OF ARTS IN CULINARY ARTS & NUTRITION

The Associate of Arts in Culinary Arts & Nutrition at Dubois College is a holistic and justice-oriented
program that merges culinary technique with nutritional science and food systems education.
Rooted in African diasporic foodways and community health, the program prepares students to work
in kitchens, schools, nonprofits, and entrepreneurial ventures that prioritize nourishment, culture,
and equity.

Students gain hands-on experience in cooking fundamentals, food safety, meal planning, and
sustainable food sourcing, while exploring the intersections of culture, wellness, and economic
access. The curriculum emphasizes the role of chefs as educators, healers, and change agents in
communities disproportionately impacted by food insecurity and chronic disease.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level culinary or food service roles, further
certification, or transfer into bachelor's programs in culinary arts, public health, or nutrition.
